This semester, our chapter was turned upside down by the ongoing effects of COVID-19. But, our chapter worked hard to make the necessary adjustments and we managed to have one of our most successful semesters to date!

Our academic year began as it always does, with a recruitment cycle! Limited to a strictly online recruitment process, we were able to bring in our largest incoming class yet, with 9 incoming Data Science members, 11 Consulting members, and 7 Fund members. We were able to do so in large part due to our development of new Data Science Education (led by Director Sean Lim) and Fund Education (led by Director Billy Wang) tracks! These tracks, in adjacency with our long-successful Consulting Education track, welcomed 27 total new members, bringing our total chapter membership for the semester to 55!

Our chapter operated with a hybrid model to remain in accordance with Tufts Student Organization policies. Members located on campus and that sought an in-person TAMID experience were able to attend weekly sessions in person, socially distanced, masked, and with a maximum of 10 members. Late in the semester, as COVID-19 rates worsened in the local area, we moved to an exclusively online semester, finishing with our scheduled programming as intended!

Our flagship event for the fall was our Data Science Seminar, a half-day event on November 8th led by our Directors of Data Science, Jonathan Lai and Nicholas Sokol. We welcomed three industry experts for interactive sessions where speakers led students through real projects their teams had faced, sharing code and walking students through data-intensive solutions!

Finally, our Consulting Sector hosted four successful projects this fall! Pictured right is Andrew Kofsky, a Project Manager who worked with a renewable energy startup called SolOr in performing market research and financial forecasting!

We are so proud of our members who maintained high levels of hard work, commitment, and passion to our organization throughout the obstacles of this past semester. We look forward to accomplishing even more in 2021!
